UnionBank of the Philippines is using Red Hat OpenShift Service on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to migrate mission-critical workloads from on-premises environments to AWS, a widely adopted cloud platform. This transition enables UnionBank to launch innovative financial services more quickly, such as digital wallets, AI-powered financial assistants, and mobile payment apps.

The digital economy in Southeast Asia is valued at approximately 200 billion USD, driven by a multitude of digital consumers and high internet penetration. However, many people in the region lack access to financial services. UnionBank is leveraging Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS to expand digital banking efforts. This platform allows them to build cloud-native applications on a Kubernetes framework, utilizing various AWS services for security-focused and scalable applications. They have integrated electronic "Know Your Customer" (eKYC) capabilities into their mobile app to streamline account opening.

UnionBank is also using Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS to maintain a consistent and unified experience across their public and private cloud environments. This approach simplifies operations, reduces application deployment times, and frees up resources for innovation. UnionBank has worked with Red Hat's Open Innovation Lab to improve collaboration and streamline internal processes, resulting in more personalized financial products for their customers.
