SoftBank Corp. has announced that it would stop providing 3G services on January 31, 2024.

In a press release, the company said that customers subscribing to 3G services will be required to switch to 4G and/or 5G price plans and compatible mobile handsets to continue to use SoftBank Corp.'s mobile communication services.

With its discontinuation of 3G services, SoftBank Corp. will make more effective use of radio spectrum, and the company said it will also strive to increase customer satisfaction by providing convenient communication services with greater stability and quality.

SoftBank Corp. will individually contact applicable customers. In addition to providing details on the 3G service discontinuation, the telco firm will offer information on the benefits of upgrading to other mobile handsets.
