Leading telcos release 5G use cases paper
At 2019 Globe Mobile Broadband Forum (MBBF 2019), Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company (ZPMC), Vodafone, China Mobile and Huawei jointly released a new 5G Smart Port White Paper. The white paper provides a deep interpretation of 5G use cases in building an automation and intelligent port, aiming to accelerate application research and project commercialization.
ZTE, China Telecom assist Bluetron in implementing China’s first 5G SA site
ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for Mobile Internet, together with the Zhejiang Branch of China Telecom, assisted Bluetron in commissioning China's first 5G SA (Standalone) site, which put 5G slicing, edge computing and smart manufacturing into trial to help Bluetron build a new 5G smart factory.
Huawei announces increase in Q3 2019 revenue
Huawei announced its business results for the third quarter of 2019. During the first three quarters of this year, Huawei generated CNY610.8 billion in revenue, an increase of 24.4% year-on-year. The company's net profit margin in this period was 8.7%.
Thailand’s AIS aims to educate people on importance of e-waste management through new campaign
Thai telecoms juggernaut AIS has recently partnered with industry leaders across multiple sectors to launch its “Mission Green 2020” environment protection initiative by installing e-waste bins in its stores and shopping malls all over the country. According to AIS, the aim of this campaign is to educate society on the detrimental effects on the planet if e-waste disposal is done ineffectively and carelessly.
Xiaomi announces release of Redmi Note 8 Series smartphones
Global technology leader Xiaomi announced the launch of Redmi Note 8 Series Smartphones at the launch event held at the Address Hotel, Downtown Dubai. Redmi Note 8 Pro Redmi Note 8, Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A were introduced to the attendees of the event which included Xiaomi team from UAE and China and their distribution and retail partners. Also introduced at the launch was Mi Wireless Car Charger for those on the move.
Canadian police illegally shared Huawei executive’s data with US, lawyers claim
Lawyers for Meng Wanzhou, Huawei’s CFO, had recently revealed that Canadian police illegally exchanged details of Meng’s phone data with US officials in an attempt to throw out an extradition claim against the top executive.

The winners of the NetEvents Innovation Awards 2019 – Cloud/Datacenter, IoT & CyberSecurity were announced at the NetEvents Global IT Summit & Awards Dinner at the Hayes Mansion, San Jose, California, USA. These prestigious awards celebrate the year’s most significantly innovative start-ups and established companies in the fast-growing Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud/Datacenter and Cybersecurity arenas. All money raised from the award entry fees is being shared between three charities: Prostate Cancer Research, STEM and UNICEF. This year’s charitable contributions brought the total raised to date to over $137,000.
