DITO Telecommunity Corporation made a splash by topping four categories in the latest Opensignal Mobile Network Experience report: upload speed experience, availability, excellent consistent quality  and core consistent quality.

DITO was not the only one to earn such recognition. Globe Telecom was honored as well. The latter broke Smart Communication’s previously unbeaten streak on overall video experience, game experience and voice app experience. Meanwhile, the former was only 2.6 Mbps behind Smart in the download speed experience category, as shown in the analytics company’s April 2023 report.

“It is DITO, not Globe, that is giving Smart reason for concern in the Download Speed Experience category, despite Smart having won this award outright for the past 12 reports in a row,” according to Opensignal. DITO first appeared in the Opensignal report in October 2021, when it received the 4G Availability Award.

“DITO expects to spend ₱27 billion ($487 million) on its network this year, which would take its total network spend to around ₱230 billion by the end of the year,” the report added.

In this most recent report, Globe received the highest number of awards, winning seven categories. Meanwhile, Smart gathered five, a relatively lower number than it did in the October 2022 Opensignal Mobile Network Experience report.

These three operators in the Philippines (DITO, Globe and Smart) were analyzed based on their mobile network experience in the country within the duration of 90 days, beginning from January 1, 2023, to March 31, 2023. Opensignal also studied the experiences of Filipinos when connected to 5G technology. Since DITO has only launched 5G service in Metropolitan Manila, Opensignal reported on the 5G experience of DITO users in this region as a fraction of its overall regional analysis.
