The network consolidation initiative between Nokia and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat) has been successfully completed, delivering an improved user experience for Indosat's expanding customer base. The initiative will enhance Indosat's network performance and capacity and enable them to play a crucial role in Indonesia's digital transformation strategy to unlock economic growth. The program encompasses the majority of the cities of Java (Surabaya, Semarang and Yogyakarta), as well as the areas of Sumatera and Kalimantan.

Nokia, a strategic partner of Indosat, assisted the company in reducing the total number of physical locations under its sub-brands IM3 and Tri by 30%. With the help of additional sites that Indosat has placed, better indoor coverage and higher speeds are now available.

Utilizing the combined spectrum assets from both service providers, IM3's performance was enhanced by up to 42%. Meanwhile, Tri's performance increased by up to 170%.

Indosat modernized its network with the aid of Nokia's most recent AirScale portfolio. Increasing the network capacity and operational effectiveness will support 5G services and shorten the time to market. Nokia assisted Indosat in the design phase in order to optimize the advantages of network consolidation.

According to the President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Vikram Sinha, Indosat's mission is to deliver world-class digital experiences, connecting and empowering the people of Indonesia. He further elaborated that network integration completion is the springboard towards achieving the mission, and with the support of all strategic partners, they have achieved their grand ambition in just one year.

He stated, “We extend our most sincere thanks to all the teams involved in making this happen. This network integration is part of our commitment to deliver a marvelous experience to all our customers. Moving forward, Indosat will continue expanding its network throughout Indonesia because we believe that inclusive internet access will unlock various untapped potentials and improve the nation's economy in the near future."

Further, Chief Customer Experience Officer of Nokia Ricky Corker said, “We are honored to support Indosat in this strategic initiative, which will play a crucial role in driving Indonesia's digital economy. Our proven expertise in delivering complex projects played a vital role in the completion of this consolidation project in a timely manner.

“The program has set a new benchmark for other network consolidation initiatives across the world,” he concluded.
