Indonesian tower company, Dayamitra Telekomunikasi (Mitratel), has reported a significant increase in profit due to tower acquisitions and growth in tenancy occupations. In a statement, the subsidiary of Telkom Indonesia revealed that profits grew by 16.6% year-on-year to IDR 14 trillion (USD 92.8 million), while revenue increased by 11.9% to IDR 6.3 trillion.

Mitratel acquired 1,192 towers and constructed 481 new sites, bringing its total to 37,091 by the end of September. The company now claims to be the largest tower company in Southeast Asia. The President Director, Theodorus Ardi Hartoko, stated that the company plans to increase asset productivity by attracting more tenants and improving operational efficiency through digitalization.

The number of tenants grew by 10.5% year-on-year, reaching 55,704, while the number of collocations increased by 21.3% to 18,613. Additionally, Mitratel's fibre optic network now spans 29,042 km.

Hartoko believes that the future of the telecommunications industry will involve the divestment of towers and fiber optics by mobile network operators (MNOs) as they focus more on product innovation and meeting consumer needs. He sees this as an opportunity for Mitratel to become a strategic partner and grow alongside MNOs.

Tower companies not only provide the physical infrastructure essential for seamless communication but also serve as catalysts for economic growth. The growth in tenancy occupations signifies the heightened demand for telecommunication services, reflecting a burgeoning digital ecosystem across Southeast Asia.

Mitratel's success becomes emblematic of the pivotal role tower companies play in meeting this escalating demand, enabling enhanced connectivity and communication capabilities.
