Optus, one of Australia's largest telecommunications providers, experienced a widespread outage on Wednesday, leaving millions of customers without internet and phone connectivity. The unexpected outages caused nationwide turmoil, including problems with electronic payment systems and emergency phone lines.

SoftBank Corp. has launched its computing platform for the development of generative AI. SoftBank's subsidiary, SB Intuitions Corp, also began developing Japanese large language models (LLMs) using this computing platform. The company plans to finish developing 350 billion-parameter LLMs in 2024.

ST Telemedia Global Data Centers (STT GDC), a rapidly growing data center provider, has announced its plans to develop a second data center campus in Malaysia. This new campus will have the capacity to support up to 120 megawatts of critical IT capacity. STT GDC recently entered the Malaysian market through a partnership with Basis Bay to develop their first data center campus in Cyberjaya.

Indonesia has seen some recent developments in the data center industry, with Telkom Indonesia launching a new data center in Banda Aceh on the Island of Sumatra. This facility is part of Telkom's neuCentrIX data center ecosystem, which offers colocation, cloud services, and internet exchange. It is the 18th metro that neuCentrIX has entered and will primarily serve government services and local internet service providers.

Globe Telecom reported growth in its mobile business revenue, but also disclosed a decrease in profits for the first nine months of the financial year. The operator stated that profits fell by 27% from PHP 26.46 billion (USD 474 million) to PHP 19.29 billion (USD 345 million).
