Nokia the City of Melbourne have conducted a trial using Nokia Scene Analytics artificial intelligence (AI) technology to develop a deeper understanding of waste disposal behaviour. This will allow the city to tackle the issue of waste dumping more efficiently keep laneways – the busy and narrow city streets and pedestrian areas – even more clean, safe and free of garbage.

At the 2021 Asia-Pacific Target Network Conference, Richard Jin, President of Huawei Optical Product Line, said that optical transmission is a greener and more energy-saving transmission technology. Huawei is committed to building a low-carbon, efficient, and intelligent all-optical target network, the primary engine for digital economy development.

Nokia and Taiwan Mobile (TWM) announced that it has achieved the world’s first New Radio Carrier Aggregation (NR CA) by combining spectrum in the 700MHz (n28) and 3500MHz (n78) bands. The trial, which took place in a 5G standalone (SA) network environment, paves the way for TWM to deliver market-leading 5G experiences to its customers with enhanced connectivity and capacity. Carrier Aggregation combines frequency bands for higher rates and increased coverage, delivering superior network capacity and maximizing the spectral efficiency of 5G networks.

Qualcomm Technologies and ZTE announced that, to support the testing needs of the IMT-2020 (5G) promotion group for 200MHz carrier bandwidth over 5G mmWave, the companies successfully showcased features required in anticipation of 5G mmWave rollouts in China. The tests were completed using a smartphone form-factor test device powered by the flagship Snapdragon® X65 Modem-RF System, and ZTE mmWave AAU network infrastructure equipment.
