Google is strengthening its presence in Malaysia with a second major contract awarded to local construction giant, Gamuda, valued at MYR 1 billion (approximately USD 236 million), for the development of a hyperscale data center in Port Dickson.
Gamuda DC Infrastructure (Gamuda DC), a unit of the Kuala Lumpur-based firm, signed the agreement with Google’s Pearl Computing Malaysia, according to a stock exchange filing. The project includes the construction of data center and a water treatment facility capable of supplying 65 million liters of water daily to support cooling operations.

In addition, Gamuda DC will sell 389 acres of land to Pearl Computing for MYR 455 million (USD 107 million), which will serve as the site for the upcoming facility, located about 90 kilometers south of the capital.
This marks the second deal between Google and Gamuda. In May 2024, the tech giant tapped the company for a MYR 1.7 billion contract to carry out mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works for another data center project at Elmina Business Park in Selangor. Google previously pledged USD 2 billion to establish its first data and cloud region in the country.
