Chinese telco giant ZTE has recently teamed up with Smartfren Telecom, a Jakarta-based wireless network operator to bolster Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Informatics to perform 5G applications within the manufacturing sector.

ZTE announced that the demonstration for the deployment of 5G network, which was conducted by both ZTE and Smartfren telco engineers and took place in a logistics warehouse, adopted a spectrum of 28GHz at 5G medium-high-frequency mmWave with a throughput limit reaching 8.7 Gbps.

The President Director of Smartfren, Merza Fachys said, “This demonstration case can be well applied for factory scenarios. Specifically, in case of a problem in the logistical and shipping path, a monitoring engineer can launch a drone to troubleshoot the problem at a short distance.”

The CEO of the Indonesian network operator Budiono Muljono also echoed this sentiment, stating that the rapid growth of 5G equipment and technologies will greatly enhance the automation of monitoring in real-time, directly influencing productivity and efficacy in a positive way.
