CtrlS Datacenters has started construction on its new data center in GIFT City, Gujarat, India. The company will invest Rs 250 crore (USD 30m) in the project, known as CtrlS Gandhinagar 1 DC. The significant financial infusion underscores CtrlS Datacenters' strategic commitment to expanding its infrastructure and service capabilities in the dynamic and rapidly growing data center industry.

The construction of CtrlS Gandhinagar 1 DC marks a pivotal milestone in CtrlS Datacenters' expansion strategy, positioning the company to meet the escalating demands for secure, scalable, and technologically advanced data center solutions. The considerable investment not only reflects the company's confidence in the potential of the region but also signifies its dedication to providing cutting-edge infrastructure to support the evolving needs of businesses and organizations in the digital era.

Data Center Pioneers

The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendrabhai Patel, laid the foundation stone for the facility. The data center, designed to meet Tier IV standards, is expected to create over 1,000 jobs in the region.

The CIO of CtrlS, Anil Nama, stated that the data center is scheduled to be operational by 2025, but the size and IT capacity have not been determined yet. The location in GIFT City provides easy access to major clusters in the state.

Meanwhile, CtrlS Datacenters' chairman, Sridhar Pinnapureddy, described GIFT City as an ideal location due to its status as a global financial hub and home to many BFSI companies.

AI and Cloud-Ready Hyperscale Expansion

In October 2023, CtrlS announced a USD 2bn investment plan to expand across Asia and the Middle East, adding 350MW of AI and cloud-ready hyperscale data centers. Currently, the company has 234MW of IT capacity in its existing facilities and has plans for a 10MW data center in Uttarakhand, India, as well as a 150MW campus in Thailand.

Furthermore, Siddarth Chennareddy, VP of global expansions and strategy at CtrlS, revealed that the company will establish five more data centers in India in 2024.

The new data center is expected to serve as a technological hub, offering state-of-the-art facilities that align with global standards. CtrlS Datacenters aims to leverage this expansion to enhance its capacity to deliver reliable and resilient data hosting services, thereby contributing to the overall growth and development of the digital ecosystem in Gujarat and beyond. As CtrlS Datacenters continues to forge ahead with its strategic initiatives, CtrlS Gandhinagar 1 DC stands as a testament to the company's commitment to innovation, technological excellence, and meeting the evolving demands of the digital landscape in India.
