China Telecom Global (CTG), a subsidiary of China Telecom Corporation Limited - one of the world's largest providers of integrated telecommunication services, and Liquid Telecom, a leading pan-African telecoms group, announced the signing of a historic strategic partnership whereby the two companies will collaborate to provide Africa and Asia with industry-leading network solutions and services.

Japanese telecommunications giant SoftBank has announced an increase in its annual operating profit. Fiscal industry analysts have attributed the surge in its annual revenue to the increasing value of its Vision Fund and its robust performances from its telecoms units.

The escalating tensions between China and the US show no signs of abating following the decision by Pentagon officials to ban the use of Huawei and ZTE smartphones by US army personnel at military bases. The US has launched an incessant offensive against both Chinese vendors in the last number of months.

Chinese telecommunications vendor ZTE has announced that it has been forced to suspend its major operating activities following the ban imposed by the US government. However, in a statement released by the company, ZTE did state that it was working tirelessly to find a resolution to the issue.

China has reportedly urged the US to reconsider its ban on telecommunications vendor ZTE during crunch trade talks between the global superpowers in Beijing. The US has imposed a seven year ban on American companies from selling services and equipment to the Chinese vendor after it claimed ZTE had failed to comply with its trade rules.

PCCW Global, the international operating division of HKT, Hong Kong's premier telecommunications service provider, and Colt Technology Services have further progressed their blockchain Proof of Concept (PoC). Additional members of the ITW Global Leaders' Forum (GLF) are also getting involved in the initiative.
