Huawei to help build China Telecom’s intelligent ROADM WDM backbone network
Huawei exclusively won the bid for China Telecom's Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (ROADM) Network Project in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. This is the first intelligent ROADM WDM backbone network to be built in China, marking the beginning of China Telecom's optical transport network evolving towards the intelligent optical networking era. This is also a major step forward for the "CTNET2025" network transformation strategy of China Telecom.
Huawei leads with completion of China's second-phase 5G R&D test
Huawei leads with the completion of China's second-phase 5G radio technology test in Huairou District, Beijing. This test procedure was organized by IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group. During the C-Band test, Huawei adopted 5G New Radio, Massive MIMO, and other technologies using the entire 200 MHz bandwidth to achieve over 6 Gbps of single-user downlink throughput and over 18 Gbps of cell peak rate.
Tasmania to become first Australian state to have full IoT network
The Australian state of Tasmania is set to become the first state to have a full IoT (Internet of Things) network with 95 percent of the population set to be covered by the dedicated network by the end of 2017. Digital services provider TasmaNet in partnership with IoT and communications services provider Thinxtra are building the island-state’s network.

Thai communications provider True has awarded Ericsson the world's first major Dual Band Dot to deploy indoor networks across Thailand to improve indoor connectivity. True will install these Dots from May 2017, focusing on the northern, southern, and central regions of Thailand. The first deployments will be in hospitals, shopping malls, and hotels.
NTT DOCOMO and Nokia begin testing for 5G ecosystem in Japan
Nokia is working with Japan’s NTT DOCOMO to test applications using a 5G base station and the Intel® 5G Mobile Trial Platform end-user device. This demonstrates the potential of Nokia 5G FIRST to deliver enhanced broadband at vastly greater scale. A showcase at the 5G Tokyo Bay Summit 2017 will signal the start of 5G trials in the Tokyo area.
